Visit the Dominy Shops 8/2

During your visit, you’ll learn how the Dominy shops and home returned to its original location where three generations of East Hampton’s most acclaimed woodworkers and craftsmen made everything from cradles to coffins in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In addition to the restored carpentry and clockmaking shop, you can see two exhibitions on display in the Dominy’s reconstructed house, which now serves as an exhibition gallery.
In addition to Made to Order: The Dominy Craftsmen and their Customers, which examines the East Hampton residents who commissioned tools and furniture from the Dominys, the Historical Society has just unveiled a new exhibit entitled, ONCE UPON A TIME: Dominy Crafted Clocks 1768 to 1828. This new show features over 10% of the clocks that the Dominys are known to have made.
