SUMMARY:Historic Hike of the Grace Estate
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, November 28\, the day after Thanksgiving\, join the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society and the East Hampton Historical Society for a hike to several of the old farmsteads in the Grace Estate Preserve area of Northwest Woods.  The hike will include visits to the Van Scoy Farm\, the Northwest Schoolhouse site\, and Kirk’s Place\, all of which were abandoned in the 1880s.  Local historian and hike leader Rick Whalen will be our guide.  The hike will be 4 to 4.5 miles long and will last until about 1:00 PM. \nMeet on Mile Hill Road directly opposite the intersection with Phoebe Scoy’s Road.  Park on the road shoulders.  The hike is free of charge and no advance reservations are needed.

DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, October 31\, as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations\, the Springs Historical Society and Community Library will be sponsoring a free Hallowe’en tour of Green River Cemetery led by our favorite witch\, Helen Harrison\, and the most knowledgeable goblin in town\, Hugh King. The tour will start at 5:00 PM at the northern entrance to the cemetery on Accabonac Road. No reservations are required. Flashlights are recommended\, and costumes are encouraged. Learn who lies where and how they got there. \nGreen River Cemetery is located at 787 Accabonac Road in East Hampton. Since sunset is 5:45 PM\, please remember to bring a flashlight or lantern. The tour is free of charge.

DESCRIPTION:Visitors will have the opportunity to go inside one of East Hampton’s oldest homes and learn about the American Revolution through the eyes of the Mulford family and the enslaved Africans who lived there. Located on an original home lot in East Hampton\, the tour includes a visit to a barn built in 1720 and a traditional dooryard garden\, which is cultivated by the Garden Club of East Hampton. SUMMARY:Tour with the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society: A Tale of Two Houses - Sherrills or Parsons
DESCRIPTION:The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society is presenting a walking tour focused on two important families of East Hampton\, the Sherrills and Parsons. Mary Foster Morgan\, a Sherrill and Parsons descendant\, will describe visiting her grandparents in East Hampton during the 1950s and 60s. She recalls her Grandmother Sherrill’s stories about early East Hampton and the “two Sherrill houses”—one on Main Street and another across from the Dominy shops on North Main Street. As a child\, she was fascinated by who lived in those homes. We’ll walk from one to the other\, and hear the insights Mary uncovered about her family\, and early East Hampton values that resonate to this day.
