SUMMARY:Special Tour of the Water Mill Museum & Corwith Windmill
DESCRIPTION:Kick off the Fourth of July holiday by joining us in Water Mill for a very special guided tour. We’ll start at the Water Mill Museum for a brief history of the “grist mill” that was built in the 1600s and the engineering involved behind hydro power. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to tour the lower level of the mill that houses an older “tub wheel\,” which is not normally open to the public. Then after visiting the Museum’s art gallery featuring local artists and the history of Water Mill\, the tour will head across the street to the Corwith Windmill\, which was moved to the hamlet green in 1813. The tour ends on the hamlet green where visitors can see the war memorial that honors Water Mill residents. \nMeet at 11 AM at the Water Mill Museum\, 41 Old Mill Road in Water Mill\, NY. Parking is on the street or behind the post office opposite the Windmill on Montauk Highway.  \nThe tour is free for Members and $12 for Non-Members of the East Hampton Historical Society. \nRegister \nPhoto credit: Kathryn Odell-Hamilton

SUMMARY:Tour with the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society: A Tale of Two Houses - Sherrills or Parsons
DESCRIPTION:The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society and the Jewish Center of the Hamptons are presenting a walking tour focused on two important families of East Hampton\, the Sherrills and Parsons. Mary Foster Morgan\, a Sherrill and Parsons descendant\, will describe visiting her grandparents in East Hampton during the 1950s and 60s. She recalls her Grandmother Sherrill’s stories about early East Hampton and the “two Sherrill houses”—one on Main Street and another across from the Dominy shops on North Main. As a child\, she was fascinated by who lived in those homes. We’ll walk from one to the other\, and hear the insights Mary uncovered about her family\, and early East Hampton values that resonate to this day. The tour covers 2.5 miles. \nMeet at 10:00 AM at the Lumber Lane long term parking lot 2 in East Hampton. \nRegister through the Jewish Center of the Hamptons. For more information\, please contact the tour facilitator\, Irwin Levy.
