SUMMARY:Tour with the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society: A Tale of Two Houses - Sherrills or Parsons
DESCRIPTION:The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society is presenting a walking tour focused on two important families of East Hampton\, the Sherrills and Parsons. Mary Foster Morgan\, a Sherrill and Parsons descendant\, will describe visiting her grandparents in East Hampton during the 1950s and 60s. She recalls her Grandmother Sherrill’s stories about early East Hampton and the “two Sherrill houses”—one on Main Street and another across from the Dominy shops on North Main Street. As a child\, she was fascinated by who lived in those homes. We’ll walk from one to the other\, and hear the insights Mary uncovered about her family\, and early East Hampton values that resonate to this day. DESCRIPTION:Visit the home and studio of Thomas and Mary Nimmo Moran with museum educator\, Lucas Aja. While touring around the site\, you’ll learn how the Morans made “remote and mysterious regions accessible to the American public through paintings\, drawings and illustrations\,” according to the acclaimed critic Joni Kinsey\, “and influenced an entire generation’s understanding of its country.” The tour visits the Morans’ studio and garden\, and features paintings\, etchings\, and other artwork by both Thomas and Mary Nimmo Moran. \nMeet at 229 Main Street\, East Hampton. SUMMARY:"Artists in Residence" - Historic Artists' Home & Studios of the East End
DESCRIPTION:Summer exhibition at Clinton Academy! Featuring original artworks and artifacts from some of America’s most acclaimed artists\, including Mabel & Victor D’Amico\, Robert Dash\, Elaine de Kooning\, Lee Krasner\, Jack Lenor Larsen\, John Little\, Thomas & Mary Nimmo Moran and Jackson Pollock\, Artists in Residence explores how East Hampton became one of America’s preeminent arts colonies. The exhibit describes what drew the artists to the East End\, their connection to the local landscape\, and its influence on their practice. Plus\, visitors can discover how to visit these historic homes and studios today. \nOn display in Clinton Academy at 151 Main Street in East Hampton\, the exhibit text is accessible in both Spanish and English.
