SUMMARY:Special Tour of the Water Mill Museum & Corwith Windmill
DESCRIPTION:Kick off the Fourth of July holiday by joining us in Water Mill for a very special guided tour. We’ll start at the Water Mill Museum for a brief history of the “grist mill” that was built in the 1600s and the engineering involved behind hydro power. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to tour the lower level of the mill that houses an older “tub wheel\,” which is not normally open to the public. Then after visiting the Museum’s art gallery featuring local artists and the history of Water Mill\, the tour will head across the street to the Corwith Windmill\, which was moved to the hamlet green in 1813. The tour ends on the hamlet green where visitors can see the war memorial that honors Water Mill residents. \nMeet at 11 AM at the Water Mill Museum\, 41 Old Mill Road in Water Mill\, NY. Parking is on the street or behind the post office opposite the Windmill on Montauk Highway.  \nThe tour is free for Members and $12 for Non-Members of the East Hampton Historical Society. \nRegister \nPhoto credit: Kathryn Odell-Hamilton

SUMMARY:"Artists in Residence" - Historic Artists' Home & Studios of the East End
DESCRIPTION:Summer exhibition at Clinton Academy! Featuring original artworks and artifacts from some of America’s most acclaimed artists\, including Mabel & Victor D’Amico\, Robert Dash\, Elaine de Kooning\, Lee Krasner\, Jack Lenor Larsen\, John Little\, Thomas & Mary Nimmo Moran and Jackson Pollock\, Artists in Residence explores how East Hampton became one of America’s preeminent arts colonies. The exhibit describes what drew the artists to the East End\, their connection to the local landscape\, and its influence on their practice. Plus\, visitors can discover how to visit these historic homes and studios today. \nOn display in Clinton Academy at 151 Main Street in East Hampton\, the exhibit text is accessible in both Spanish and English.
