1721 Mulford Barn RestorationPreservation engineers analyzed the barn's braced post and beam timber frame and the effects of alterations made to the original framing system and recommended the installation of temporary bracing in order to prevent further stresses or deterioration during construction. The framing system, studs and sheathing boards were repaired and sills were replaced where necessary.
Every effort was made to preserve the original fabric. Where replacements were necessary, scarf joints and other intricate joinery techniques were employed to replace materials.
New reproduction 18th century Atlantic White cedar shingles were applied to the roof and as funding permitted, the sidewalls. The barn still suffers structural deficiencies and is need of ongoing restoration.
1731 Town House RestorationThe roofing and siding systems of this landmark Town House had deteriorated, allowing water to penetrate in multiple critical locations. The failing and extremely weathered conditions of the roof and sidewalls compromised the structure, especially its timber framing system, sheathing and interior plaster and wall finishes.
The restoration work completed included replacing the roof and exterior walls to prevent further damage to the framing system and interior finishes.
