The Culloden Shipwreck
The British warship HMS Culloden ran aground on January 23rd, 1781 during a snow storm off Montauk Point. The British recovered most of her supplies and guns before they burned her to the water line.
At the height of the American Revolution, the ship was trying to intercept a French Man of War and two frigates who were attempting to ship supplies to the Revolutionaries."
